When you choose to open, drop, create, or save Markdown documents and related images, Markeep reads or writes those files on your device. App preferences are also stored locally. This access is necessary to perform the editing actions you request.
2. What Markeep does not collect or transmit
Markeep has no account system, advertising, cloud sync, usage measurement, or automated crash reporting. We do not receive your document contents, file names, file paths, images, editing history, or app preferences, and we do not sell this information.
In plain terms: file access happens on your computer. The fact that Markeep can open a file does not mean the developer can see it.
3. Storage, security, and deletion
You choose where your documents and images are stored and remain responsible for managing them. Markeep preferences are kept in the local app-data location assigned by Windows. You can delete your files at any time, and you can remove preferences by uninstalling the app and clearing its local app data.
4. Microsoft Store and external links
Microsoft Store handles download, signing, and updates for the Store edition. The Store edition does not run Markeep's GitHub update check.
If you choose a website, release notes, sponsorship, or email link, your system browser or mail app opens the relevant service. Those services process connection information under their own privacy policies.
When you visit the Markeep website, its host, Cloudflare Pages, may process standard connection logs needed to deliver the site under its policy. This page contains no remote fonts, advertising, or visitor measurement scripts.
5. When you contact us
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to provide. We use it only to reply and resolve the issue. Unless retention is legally required or necessary for an ongoing case, you may ask us to delete the related correspondence.
6. Changes to this policy
If a future version adds accounts, cloud sync, AI, automated crash reporting, or another feature that changes data handling, we will update this policy before releasing that feature and revise the effective date above.
